Running

This is a photo of me after finishing my first marathon! Though I might look full of smiles and fun with my medal and bag of recovery snacks, I can assure you I was in a great deal of pain. I think running for 42km challenges you uniquely, forcing you to learn how to dig deep and persevere. It’s all the more reason to love the sport.

Travel

Traveling really gives you more perspective and helps you grow as an individual. I may not have a full passport of 120 countries but my time spent in China, Mexico, The United States, and the Dominican Republic have helped shape my worldview and given me more perspective.

Skiing

I remember first learning how to ski and thinking my friends were crazy for taking me up the elk chair at the Fernie Ski Resort. For those who don’t know, the ride down is an easy beginners run, packed with 5-year-olds who could’ve put me to shame. Thankfully I stuck to it and can now make my way down just about any double black diamond I find myself on. Skiing is one of those sports that can be hard to get into but is endlessly rewarding after getting over the learning curve. I often joke that there’s no sense living somewhere so cold if you can’t get excited about skiing every time there’s a significant snowfall.
